Choate M4 Telescoping / Side Folding Stock Remington 870 12 Gauge

I bought this to replace the cheap ATI M4-style buttstock I had on my 870 Express and this is a much better upgrade! Very easy to install once the old stock was off, super solid and it only took a couple of minutes to feel confident folding and unfolding it quickly. It's a bit stiff to work with one hand, but once you figure out how to hold it and use some leverage to push down on that spring it's not too bad. Better a little on the stiff side so it isn't TOO easy to collapse on accident anyway. Length of pull adjustment works exactly as expected, and the added battery compartments make for a very comfortable cheek weld. The only gripe I had was with the sling swivel attached to the bottom of the pistol grip. It's a really dumb place to put one of those; it pinches your finger even without shooting if it's not positioned just so, and it flops around all over the place, so I can only imagine the pain it can cause under recoil. Luckily a quick nip with some wire cutters took care of that! I can't imagine anyone being thrilled about having a piece of metal wire interfering with their firing hand grip. You could at least move it to the back of the grip where it's a bit more out of the way rather than right where your pinky lands. Ultimately, there are plenty of other places to attach a sling and it came with other convenient swivels, so I don't think I'm missing out on anything having removed that one. In the end, that swivel isn't enough of a bother to reduce its rating IMO since it's an easy fix, and the stock does exactly what I bought it for. Highly recommend!
