ADVANTAGES OF S&K MOUNTING SYSTEM
-Front and rear rings are interchangeable
-Ring studs mate to matching receptacles in bases
-BOTH rings bear against front of their respective receptacles (both absorb recoil shock)
-Trim in appearance, light in weight
-Precision bored – scope will not slip
-No knobs, bolts or other obtrusions to break or bend
-Fit any 1 inch scope tube
All S&K rings are fully machined out of solid steel bar stock, tumble finished to remove all burrs, and have a 3/8" diameter stud that locks into a 3/8" hole or slot in the base which provides windage adjustment. The rings are locked into position by tightening cooperative cone pointed set screws. The rings are precision bored to 1" diameter and, being machined rather than extruded or stamped, form a precision fit that will not slip under recoil. They are nicely contoured and trim in appearance. S&K rings are tumble finished and blued to achieve a military-type dull or nonglare black finish that matches the black anodized Insta Mount bases.
#3165 & #3170 INSTRUCTION SHEET FOR THE SWISS RUBIN K-31
Push the pin out at the front of the rear flip up sight. Remove the spring by lifting up at the rear and sliding it reward. Slide the flange nut into the undercut at the rear of the sight where the spring was. Place the mount over the flange nut with the (2) 3-48 tapped holes toward the barrel end. Line the 3-48 tapped holes in the mount up with the holes in the side of the receiver and put in the (2) 3-48 socket head screws. It is very important that these holes line up to keep from damaging the threads when the screws are installed. DO NOT TIGHTEN! Move the nut around with a pin in the hole until the round part of the nut slips into the counterbore in the bottom of the mount. Put the 10-32 x ¾ flat head screw (for the #3165) or the 10-32 x ? flat head screw (for the #3170) through the mount and into the nut. Tighten this screw and the (2) 3-48 socket head screws. The 3-48 screws don’t need to be real tight! For the # 3165 mount put the 10-32 x ½ set screws down through the tapped holes in the top of the mount and tighten against the receiver. For the # 3170 mount put the 10-32 x ½ set screw down thru the tapped hole at the front and tighten against the receiver & the 10-32 x 1/4 set screw down thru the tapped hole at the rear and tighten against the receiver. The purpose of the set screws is to keep pressure on the 3-48 socket head screws. Do not try to remove the 3-48 screw with the set screws tight! You can also get some vertical adjustment if you find your gun is shooting low. Loosen the 10-32 flat head screw & turn the set screw closest to the 10-32 screw clockwise. For every ¼ turn of the 10-32 set screw you will move approximately 8” at 100 yards. Retighten the 10-32 flathead screw.
